Foundation Module

By honing language, presentation and soft skills, the foundation module helps students to make a positive impression in formal interpersonal situations like interviews, presentations, group discussions, etc.

The foundation module trains candidates in the following areas:

  • English language: Language skills are brushed up with special focus on grammar & usage. Classroom sessions provide extensive practice through speech & elocution exercises, group discussions & presentations.
  • Presentation skills: Candidates are tutored in the art of making presentations with or without multimedia tools such as PowerPoint. Each candidate makes 5 presentations and individual feedback is given to improve skills.
  • Interpersonal skills: A workshop module comprising of several activities trains students in the usage of soft & interpersonal skills for interaction with individuals or teams.

Various studies have indicated that it’s no longer enough to be a functional expert. Most organizations look for personal qualities, skills and attitudes that make an employee compatible to work with. In fact, organizations are willing to train new recruits in technical skills if they have the requisite soft skills, as indicated by the following surveys:

85% of employment and promotions in the job happened because of the candidate’s attitude whereas just 15% due to the facts and figures he packed under his belt.
- Study by Harvard University

67% of HR managers would hire an applicant with strong soft skills even if their technical abilities were lacking.

  • Behavioural skills: This learning component helps candidates understand the importance of behaviour during the recruitment process. Emphasis is laid on monitoring individual behaviour, interpreting behavioural signals from others, and adapting one’s behaviour to the demands of the environment. Teaching is through a workshop format with the use of cue cards & role-plays. This is further clubbed with theory sessions on non-verbal cues.
  • Grooming & etiquette: Importance of grooming & etiquette during the placement process is discussed. Practical sessions & videos, such as those on ways to dress, give finishing touches to candidates’ preparations.
