Selection Focused Learning

This module caters specifically to that moment of truth when the candidates interact directly with their employers. Following are the components of this module:

a. Résumé Writing:

“A résumé is a medium to an interview call; it is as important as costumes in a play.”
-Anonymous

Grabbing the attention of an HR manager who receives tens of résumés every day is not easy. Even qualified candidates often do not succeed in getting an interview call because of a weak résumé that does not aptly highlight their strengths to address the needs of the job.

Career Sketch provides candidates with well-crafted résumés designed by communication professionals that convey all relevant details without clutter or overload. It also provides a video résumé service, which allows candidates to market themselves creatively through a one-minute audio-video presentation about themselves that supplements their paper résumé. Video résumés and other innovative delivery methods are in line with the most revolutionary way for job search and provide an edge over traditional search mechanisms.

Candidates have sessions with résumé writers to present the best of their candidature as well as understand the intricacies projected by their résumés. They can also pose queries to résumé writers because Career Sketch strives to not only create the best document but also instill confidence in candidates about their documents.

b. Group Discussion (GD) Coaching

GDs are a regular feature in most campus recruitment processes. Most of all, GDs test how candidates function as part of a team. Most students neither have training in team interaction nor know what traits recruiters are looking for through a GD, which is when Career Sketch coaching comes to the rescue.

Candidates are coached in GD skills to help them strike a balance between teamwork & leadership. The coaching aims at sharpening various soft skills like communication & listening skills, reasoning ability, assertiveness, flexibility, creativity, etc.

Career Sketch provides varied resources such as moderators, mentors and technological support to develop the required skills. It offers practice with diverse groups to simulate real life situations. Each candidate gets an opportunity to participate in 5 GDs. Candidates who need additional help are asked to participate in 2 extra sets of GDs. Peer and expert evaluation provides candidates with a positive and analytical feedback.

c. Interview Training

The interview stage is the culmination of students’ efforts to impress their prospective employers. It is the last step in the recruitment process and also the most important one because it is now that candidates get an opportunity to communicate with their recruiters directly and face-to-face. Career Sketch training helps understand the nuances of the process and the expectations of the corporate.

In the interview training stage, Career Sketch gives finishing touches to a candidate by brushing up the skills & knowledge required for a particular job. Candidates are coached in various types of interviews (telephonic, technical & HR) and taken through the typically asked questions. Career Sketch offers 4 rounds of interviews (1 round of telephonic, 2 of technical, & 1 of HR) covering different aspects of the interview process. Two additional practice sessions are also conducted in homogeneous groups of 8-10 candidates. An industry expert is invited as a member of the interview panel for the final round of the technical interviews.

Every interview session is followed by an extensive feedback round. Interaction with Career Sketch interviewers helps candidates clarify their goals, expectations and strengths to arrive at the appropriate answers.
